The purpose of the cheese, wine and robots site is to provide a place for the Carothers, Lee, Donnell, Fenderbosch or other extended community of family, friends and acquaintances to gather and communicate.

Decentralization of content creation is key and essential to the use and usefulness of the cheese wine & robots site. Everyone who uses the site is responsible for the content, and as a community built site, it will only be as expansive and dynamic as the community of users make it.

We will continuously enable methods of communication on this site. Blogging, Forums, Image Sharing, RSS, Syndication, Instant Messaging and the ability to comment and reply on content were all enabled during the launch phase of the site. Investigation is underway on how to send and deliver content and messages to each other via SMS, and in the future we will enable other communication mediums as they become viable.

The vision is incomplete and evolving, and of course help and constructive feedback are always welcome.

For the most part, this is an "un-moderated" site. The use of the term "un-moderated" in this context should be interpreted to mean that if it passes the Sam and/or Matt test, it will stay on the site. If it does not, it will be deleted. This is not an overly restrictive test. For a more moderated Carothers website, go http://www.carothers.info. Most everything there should pass the "mom test", and it is intended to contain more of a static and long-term record of what the extended Carothers family is up to. The two sites are closely related but not interchangeable. The reason for existence of both sites is pretty much about family fun and encouraging continued communications between generations and geographies.
