It's FOOD.

For those of you who answer no, why not?

Hrrrunh?

Where's the "I don't know" answer? What is the real issue here. Cloning? Eating meat? Killing things in general? I am too tired to be confused.

cloned meat

I would not eat cloned meat because it has not been around long enough to know if there are any side effects. Sounds like material for a great sci fi movie.

Vegetarians

Have you noticed that two of the voters who voted yes are essentially vegetarian! When cloning meat so far it is just beef and lamb. Chickens reproduce at a rapid rate and it doesn't warrant the science interference right now. Cows and lambs take several years to reach a "mature" slaughter age and don't reproduce as rapidly. I say....EAT MORE CHICKEN! (I love Chik-fil-A)

2 things, ok 3

1. I am not a vegetarian or even almost vegetarian. Most people don't eat things that are cute or begin to resemble human behavior. I actually drew a line somewhere and do not eat mammals because they are our immediate family. Everything else is in the clear for me so long as it actually tastes good and/or can be wrapped in a tortilla.

2. I have no problem with cloning any animals for human consumption so long as they are treated ethically. I find it funny that most people I speak to who think that the act of cloning is unethical have no problem raising chickens at a rate of 1 per square foot in a coop, or in the case of cattle 1 per 10 square feet, feeding them only what they need to survive until we bash them over the head.

EDIT:
and 3. I agree that we should all eat more chicken as it is a more efficient meat, delivering ounce for ounce the same amount of protein as beef with 1/3 the fat and 1/2 the calories. WIN.

??

Who else on here is a vegetarian, because I didn't vote!

my fault

I'll take partial blame for that one, I vote in most the polls several times from a few different IPs. It always looks like tons of people voted. I know, I suck.

clone the farmers

So, I was thinking about this yesterday... I don't actually know what the motives are behind not labeling the cloned meat products. I can imagine it might be to help financially protect those farmers. But if people have a moral problem with eating cloned beef (whether or not I agree with them), they should be able to make a choice. As it is, I think it might be a shot in the dark.
