Satellite Site Ideas

Race's picture

This past spring I had the idea that I wanted to develop a separate side of CWR as a place to compile and share great ideas for how to be "green" as the popular phrase runs. It is so popular right now to buy fluorescent light bulbs and reusable shopping bags, but these things alone are not enough. I think we all know this, but not many of us spend the time it takes to really evaluate our lifestyle and make additional necessary changes. I would like to create and maintain a small place online for us to share our personal ideas about how to be more friendly to our home planet.

I haven't done this yet, because I don't have a ton of time at home that I actually want to spend away from my kids. However, I just had a moment of renewed commitment and I'm going to try to take advantage of that in order to get this rolling while I'm home with Adair. I would like for the site to be set up so that it doesn't require a lot of time and maintenance from myself, otherwise it'll become a huge mess. I'm going to list some of the ideas I had for the site, and I would really appreciate any ideas you all can send my way to help me get started.

Thanks & much love!

My ideas so far:
*List of businesses that are eco- friendly (both local and global)
*List of products to use in your home and day to day life that would replace other products you may use to reduce your neg. impact on the planet
*Ways to make your own ______ that might be more sustainable than buying products in a disposable/consumer market
*Different ways to use products you already own to reduce neg. impact
*Products and businesses you should definitely stay away from

and once again... Ning

Okay, I am playing around with a networking site on Ning (not the first time I've done this). Anyone up for some good old fashioned creative design help? I'm forcing Matt to help me, but the more brains, the better. Ultimately, I would like for family and friends to all be a part of the site in order to exchange ideas about easy green living.
